A fanless edge AI computer built for the factory floor

OmniCore Q is a compact, fanless industrial PC with an integrated Hailo-8 AI accelerator, designed to run computer vision and deep learning workloads 24/7 inside a machine cabinet or next to the line. Unlike a general-purpose embedded computer, it comes with an AI-ready operating system, pre-configured inference frameworks and the industrial I/O needed to talk to cameras, PLCs and MES systems out of the box.

Typical edge AI applications

  • Automated visual inspection — surface defects, scratches, cracks, porosity and cosmetic flaws detected in real time.
  • Assembly verification — presence/absence checks, correct orientation and completeness of components.
  • Dimensional inspection — camera-based measurement of lengths, diameters and holes with tolerance verdicts (see OmniDimension).
  • Part recognition and OCR — automatic identification of part numbers, labels and markings for high-mix lines.
  • Predictive maintenance — anomaly detection on sensor and image data to anticipate failures.
  • Multi-camera, multi-model pipelines — several inspection models running concurrently on the NPU (Q5 Ultra).

Why an NPU instead of a GPU?

Dedicated neural processing units execute convolutional networks with a fraction of the power and heat of a discrete GPU. This allows OmniCore Q to stay fanless and sealed against dust, which is critical for reliability in machining, casting and automotive environments, while still delivering up to 26 TOPS for low-latency, multi-stream inference. Lower power draw also means lower operating costs and a smaller environmental footprint per inspected part.

Integration and data security

All AI processing happens on the device: images and results stay inside your plant, which simplifies compliance with data privacy and IP-protection requirements and removes dependency on cloud connectivity. Results are exposed to the line through digital I/O and industrial protocols such as Modbus, Profinet and OPC UA, and optional blockchain-based traceability guarantees the integrity of inspection records for audits.
